As a BUAS student, you will hang out in and around Breda a lot. As a citizen from another hometown, it would be a great idea to get to know the best spots from a real Bredanaar, right? And even when you are from Breda, maybe I’ve got some awesome unknown spots and ideas for you. Let’s find out! 

Dinner 

While heading into the city, it is good to know where you can find lovely food. There are three perfect restaurants you should give a try!. First, one of my own favorites must be Foodhall Breda at the Reigerstraat. It is close to the Grote Markt, which is the biggest square in the city centre of Breda, and they have so much and such amazing food. There is something delicious for everyone. From Italian, to Asian, to great desserts: there is always something great for you! One of the things I like myself is how there is table service for the drinks. You will get the food yourself but when sitting in the Foodhall, the waiter will ask for and get you some drinks. The pizzas, that are made by a real Italian chef, are amazing, the bubble tea, which has the lowest price of Breda at the Foodhall, and the sharing plate at the Vietnam restaurant makes this the perfect place to eat. 

Another great restaurant is Con Fuego. Especially if you are a real meat-lover, Con Fuego is the place to be. They have truly tender meat and a modern chic style. The only downside for students of Con Fuego is the price, good quality costs money. So, take that in consideration. But when you are celebrating your birthday or when you are together with your partner for a specific time, you should go there. The spareribs are breathtaking and so is everything of the meat section.  

Finally would be Walkabout, and no, not the bar. Besides the bar for going out, Walkabout also has a dinner café at the Grote Markt. This is a perfect Australian styled restaurant where you can eat nicely for an affordable price. They even offer five to seven Australian beers and a big amount of Australian wines and Bundaberg rum; the Australian pride. There is a nice variety of high-quality food over here. It is a hard to choose a favorite but the best suggestion is the Red Desert Roo Steak, which is a real Kangaroo steak. Cheers mate! 

Entertainment 

While studying at BUAS, you deserve enjoyment within the beautiful city of Breda. I have selected the perfect places to visit for entertainment and having fun. Of all clubs in the Netherlands you must visit at least one game of NAC Breda. NAC Breda is a second division team and has in my eyes the best ambiances of the whole Netherlands. The stadium and feel of NAC even is compared with Anfield sometimes, which is the stadium of Liverpool and famous for its unique atmosphere. Because NAC plays in the second division, they play 80% of their games on Friday. So, drink enough beers at the stadium and go with your bike to the city center. Fun fact of NAC is that the supporters drink the most beers compared to all other football clubs. And that is not per person but in liters. So with 19.000 supporters they drink more liters at NAC than the 55.500 supporters at Ajax. Crazy! Here is already a snippet of the ambiance if you cannot wait!

Next to football there is another lovely place in Breda. It is called The Mezz. It is the place in Breda where concerts take place. You can take e a look every one to two months on their site. Buy tickets for every concert you think that’ll be nice, even if you do not know the performer! A lovely evening will be guaranteed!  

Going out 

This is what every student waited for of course. What are the places to go out and grab a drink? I have done some proper research for you! 95% of the research I have been drunk but let’s put that aside... One of my favorite bars must be Peddels, which is located at the Havermarkt. It is a bar with the theme of an old ship. It is one big space in the form of a L, so there is enough room for everybody. Most of the nights there is a professional DJ playing, lovely. Keep in mind that Peddels is a Dutch bar, with a lot of Dutch music. When you are not into Dutch music, I suggest Spock. This is the ultimate club for techno lovers. Spock can be found at the Reigerstraat (next to the Foodhall).
