The Double Zeros: Facebook, Wikipedia and YouTube were launched. The Euro replaced some national currencies. Reality shows became a true hit on the television, while in cinema we watched the first ever 3D motion picture. The 00s had a very interesting mix of films. From childhood memories to comic book films. Five of them are listed below.
Avatar (2009)
Jake Sully is sent to the moon Pandora. As he has to replace his decreased brother, Sully struggles between following his orders and protecting the world he grew very fond of.
One of the most expensive films ever made, but at the same time one of the most successful ones. That was not achieved easily. Some scenes took 47 hours of rendering and actors had to learn a made-up language, Na’vi. All of that was under strict watch of director James Cameron, who even kept a nail gun on set. When a phone rang he would use the gun to nail it above the exit sign. One film down. Four more sequels to go.

Finding Nemo (2003)
Clownfish Nemo is captured and taken to Sydney. Reason enough for his father to start a journey to bring him home safely.
Despite the fact that Finding Nemo is an animated film, it was the second highest grossing film of the year. The part of Dory was written especially for Ellen DeGeneres and she liked playing the part so much that she asked Pixar multiple times about making a sequel. 13 years later she got her sequel in Finding Dory. Now we just keep swimming until part three will hit theatres.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2001)
Orphaned Harry Potter enrolls a wizarding school where he learns the truth about his family. He finds out why he is famous and learns that he might need to face his enemy once again.
2001 marked the start of this franchise. It took over ten years to film. As the main actors were all very young and still had school, they did their homework while filming. By doing so, the school setting looked more realistic on camera. Accio homework!
