Ayurveda is one of the oldest and most comprehensive healing systems known to humanity. It originated in India more than 5,000 years ago. Known as the “Science of Life” and “Mother of All Healing”, Ayurveda is much more than a way to treat an illness. It has more to do with finding your balance and protecting your health at all times. With ayurvedic knowledge, you are able to understand how to create a balance between your mind, spirit, and body and more importantly how to maintain it.

Even more valuable Info...

First, I am not some type of a spiritual cult leader here to brainwash you. I promise. I just think everyone should have at least a tiny idea of what Ayurveda can do for them. So, I will give you the basics and you can decide what to do with that knowledge. In the ancient science of Ayurveda, herbs and spices are viewed as the spiritual essence of plants. They can also offer a gentle approach to bring you back into balance and help you maintain it. Herbs and spices can be used in teas, remedies, recipes, beauty products, and supplements. So, I am here to share with you some of the best Ayurvedic natural supplements. Moving on!

Ashwagandha

I read about a lot of people who swore by this plant-based anxiety relief, so I decided to give it a try. I was so impressed by this herb and the effect it had on me that I started to get into Ayurveda shortly after trying it. Ashwagandha, made from a small woody plant native to India and North Africa, is considered the king of all herbs. It is an adaptogenic herb that helps treat anxiety and depression as effectively – if not more so – than prescription drugs. Ashwagandha has so many great benefits. It helps lower anxiety and improves sleep (we sure need this, considering the mountain of work we have to do). It also boosts your immune system, acts as an aphrodisiac, upgrades muscle development and memory, and that's just the tip of the iceberg! No matter if you are a student or a teacher, an 18 or an 80-year-old, stress is stress! Taking care of your mind and your brain should be everyone’s top priority.

Brahmi

Brahmi, a creeping plant found in damp, marshy regions throughout India, is considered a powerful brain tonic. It is considered to be the premier herb for treating brain problems and age-related mental decline as well as for improving learning processes and memory. Brahmi helps balance the left and right sides of your brain, so you work with both your analytical and intuitive side effectively. Some of Brahmi’s benefits that I consider to be very important are that it helps upgrade knowledge, improves memory and concentration power, helps with restlessness, anxiety, and distraction. Well, as a student I would say thank you and where can I buy this herb in bulk? Brahmi also happens to be incredible for hair health and growth, which is a huge plus, especially during the winter.

Turmeric

“Haridra”(“The Yellow One”), “Gauri” (“The One Whose Face is Light and Shining”), “Kanchani” (“Golden Goddess”), or as you may know it- Turmeric. Let me tell you why eating curry with Turmeric is heavenly, of course, but not enough for you to experience its full benefits. Turmeric has very powerful anti-inflammatory effects and it is a very strong antioxidant. It also lowers the risk of heart diseases, purifies the blood and channels of the body, and enhances the complexion of the skin. Furthermore, it can help prevent cancer, has anti-aging properties, and helps preserve brain function. Pretty awesome for a cooking spice, right?

Everything I have written here is based on professionals' research and experiments, as well as knowledge people have passed on from generations. Remember to always educate yourself and find what works best for you. I suggest checking multiple websites before deciding to take any supplements. Be responsible! I know Dutch people are more prone to smoking herbs. However, now you have an idea of what taking these herbs regularly can do for your mind and body. If you want to learn more about Ayurveda, I’ve got you! Keep an eye out for part two.
