Going out to party with friends and meeting new people. Staying cozy at home alone reading your book. Or having dinner with friends, but also wanting to binge a show by yourself. Maybe you recognize yourself in one of these scenarios, which relates to your personality type. You may be an extrovert, introvert, or ambivert, but it's not all that black and white. With our upcoming series: Never Would I Ever, we explore more about these personality types. We will post videos on HUB watch and our Instagram page. You can check out our first Instagram post below. We will be stepping out of our comfort zone and participate in activities we normally wouldn’t do. Ali, Ioana, and Iarina will represent these different personalities. But first, let's discover the meaning of these characteristics and you can find out which one you may relate to.

Key traits

Being viewed as an introvert or extrovert is often based on your responses to social situations and stimuli from daily life. Extroverts draw their energy more from social interactions, while introverts tend to get exhausted when they engage with others a lot. They are inward-focused and more wrapped up in their own thoughts. Extroverts however are outward-oriented, that’s the literal translation.

Valuable qualities

Both introverted and extroverted people have valuable qualities. Introverts often think carefully about their decisions before they speak up, pay attention to detail, and are good listeners. Extroverts are more sociable, can adapt faster to situations, and handle stimuli better. However, there are many preconceptions about introverts and extroverts.

Introverts

If you are an introvert like Ali, many people may think you are shy and anti-social. This of course doesn’t have to be the case. It's likely that you just may prefer smaller social occasions, but you sure can enjoy a party as well. Introverts can also be perceived as less confident or overly serious. You are probably just more reflective and could be humorous and engaging with people you feel more comfortable with. There is also a misconception that introverts aren’t effective leaders. However, you most definitely could be an excellent leader with your thoughtful communication and listening skills.

Extroverts

When you are an extrovert like Ioana, some people might believe that you always want to go out and socialize. But you can also enjoy some quiet time. Extroverts may be labelled as overbearing and too talkative, but they also can be caring and good listeners in a conversation. Of course, being chatty is a wonderful trait that you should embrace. Some may assume that extroverted people need constant stimulation. However, they don't always have to be the ones to talk and are totally fine with being alone sometimes.

Ambiverts

Now you might be thinking: “I can relate to both of these, what am I?” You may be an ambivert like Iarina. Ambiverts have both introverted and extroverted characteristics. They appear somewhere in the middle of the scale. If you are an ambivert, you could moderately enjoy socializing, but you also cherish your solitude. You can adapt your behaviour depending on the situation. All these things make you highly adaptable in daily situations. Your flexibility can help you balance the social environment you’re in.

All of this can be a fun way to explore people’s personality types. If you're curious to find out what your personality type is, you can check out our quiz on our Instagram page. However, don’t forget that these labels ignore people's unique personalities. You can have a mix of introverted and extroverted attributes. It’s a spectrum. So, don’t put yourself or anyone in this box. Curious to see these personalities come to life? Look out for our first episode coming October 25th on HUB watch.
