Did you know? More than 70% of all students have a side job to earn some money? And did you know that college graduates more often have a side job than university graduates? 74% of all HBO students have a side job, and for WO students that is only 64%. These numbers clearly show that many students are trying to earn a living in probably a supermarket, catering business or drugstore. But this can be done better!
Tired of sitting behind a cash register every day? Or to pick up dirty glasses at the same restaurant every day? Or to sell yet another day cream? This can also be done differently! No day is the same with these side jobs!
1. Figurant
Have you always dreamed of a career in the film industry? But no time because, besides these dreams, you also have a study to follow? Do not panic. Would you like to earn some extra money and would you rather be in the spotlight than behind the shelves in the supermarket? Then an extra is perhaps the perfect side job for you! Showpony Productions is an all-round booking, production and entertainment agency. These agencies are constantly looking for hosts, models, dancers, acts and entertainers. You can be deployed during events, festivals, presentations, club nights, fashion shows, photoshoots and commercials.
2. Mystery Shopper
This is a fun job for shopaholics with a keen eye for detail. When you are a mystery shopper, you assess the service and customer-friendliness of store staff, albeit undercover. Often you will travel to different cities and locations to carry out your research. You must be 18 or older, hold a B driving license and be able to work independently. This all sounds very serious, but if you like shopping, this all sounds like music to your ears! But be careful! It may just be that you shop all your salary through it while working, which is not so handy for your wallet 😉
3. Barista
Are you a real coffee lover and do you make the best coffee for all your friends? Is your room or house known for the best coffee and do you pay a lot of attention to it? Then this side job is perfect for you. There are a lot of coffee places in Breda, take a look around and maybe they still have vacancies! In addition to the small coffee bars, you can of course also visit Starbucks and Coffee Company in larger cities. A passion for coffee is not an unnecessary luxury because a busy shift means coffee in your clothes, hair and sometimes even between your toes!
4. Voice actress / actor
Do you have a very pleasant and also a sympathetic voice, then think about becoming an voice actress / actor! You can think of recording films, an audiobook or commercials. It is usually very important that you do not have an accent. It is difficult to join a voice acting agency, but once you have bingo, you earn a lot for a student! 1 commercial can quickly generate hundreds of euros. These side jobs show that things can be done differently. Although there is of course nothing wrong with a job at the supermarket or in the catering industry, for some it may be a good solution to go for a more special side job. Every side job helps with your development, so remember, no side job is a waste of time! You always have the special experience, so don't hesitate to try something different.
Think out of the box!
