The second-largest city in North Brabant is Tilburg. From Breda, it's quite easy to take a day trip to this city. The train travel time is only 12 minutes. Due to this, I've listed the closest station attractions that are best to explore on foot. I hope you have a great time in Tilburg!
Have Fun!!
Gourmet market, central station
A special restaurant called the Gourment market has 16 different culinary stalls from various nations all under one roof. Fresh pizza, picanha, and other options are available in just a three-minute walk from the central station. Because of this concept, you can taste several things. The variety is enormous. If you like food and trying new things, then the gourmet market is definitely worth a visit.
LocHal
The LocHal is a beautiful library that has been open since the beginning of 2019. While the library is young, the building structure itself has been there for some time. As early as 1932, this was the workshop where NS employees repaired locomotives. At that time, this was the location of the rolling stock track, the staging area, and the boiler repair facility. In 2017, the steel and glass structures were restored, and many of their original characteristics were preserved. The best thing, in my opinion, is that the walls are decorated with textiles, which were developed by the Textile Museum's Textile Lab. So, this is a library with a lot of history in Tilburg and an inspirational place to pay a visit or to study. If you are close to the central station and interested in paying a visit, LocHal is just a 4-minute walk.
Textile museum
The museum is an exhibition that offers workshops and a TextielLab among its programs. In the TextielLab, you get a glimpse of global designers and artists behind the scenes. The experts will help you discover the endless possibilities of textiles. The museum has a library with various books and magazines on textiles, sewing, techniques, and art. This spot is a bit further than the previous locations, with it being a 20-minute walk from the station, but it is still definitely worth a visit.
And best of all, when you use your student card will cost you only €3 to visit the museum.
It is worth a look for all art and textile lovers.
The Dwaalgebied
This is a 5-minute walk from the station, towards Stationspassage. Turn to the right here and you will find Tilburg's best shopping street. In addition to vinyl records, vegan snacks, fruity drinks, and colorful shops, there is a collection of small independently owned. It's very inspiring to shop here, and besides, the small, cute buildings make it stand out from the rest of Tilburg.
The famous Vijfsprong is the center of the Dwaalgebied, where the principal streets of the Dwaalgebied meet: the Tuinstraat, Stationstraat, Nieuwlandstraat, Noordstraat, and Korte Schijfstraat.
Doloris Meta Maze
And I saved this for last, as it is the best. It is called an experience and you just must experience it. It is a maze where you can crawl, climb, and scramble through 40 rooms of artwork. This is something unique that many people have never heard of or seen before. The first thing that you must do is to put your phone and watch in a locker because you are not allowed to take pictures inside and because you have nothing with which you have no idea of the time. When you are finished, you are taken to a room one by one, blindfolded and then the adventure begins.
Be sure to wear clothes that allow you to climb and shoes with a good grip. The experience lasts about forty minutes. If you want to know more about how and what is happening inside, you need to pay a visit. It is an experience that you must have in Tilburg and something that you won’t forget. What is important to know is that it is not scary and there is no real optical illusion.
