How nice would it be if you just had time in the morning and did not have to rush? Well I don’t know the feeling, but I would like to know it. On YouTube there are these videos called “My 4AM morning routine” and I am obsessed, because who doesn’t love watching videos of other people having their lives together instead of having your own life together. Since waking up at 4 every morning is quite intense, I decided to change it to 5:30AM. Which for me is still intense but I will manage, hopefully.
The first day of the week and my decision to stay up till 2AM the previous night did not work out well… The sun is still down when my alarm clock goes off, my head ringing till infinity from the sound. My bed has never felt so good, but I must get up. The fact that my room is colder than the North Pole does not help. I made some coffee for myself in an attempt to stay awake and started my day. At around 8PM I started to feel tired and decided not to stay awake till 2AM this time in order to make the waking up process a bit easier.
When my alarm went off on Tuesday I was hoping it would go a bit easier, but unfortunately that was not true. The whole waking up process is still quite hard and me thinking my body would adjust to it in one day is a wild concept.
On Wednesday I woke up a few minutes before my alarm clock, it was still hard to get out of bed but I’m making process. The rest of the week I woke up a few minutes before my alarm clock but the getting up part was not made for me.
There is something serene about these quiet mornings. All my roommates were still asleep every time I woke up and it felt like I had the whole house to myself, which never happens.
During this week I learned a lot about myself. The first thing being that I am not a morning person and I simply love sleep. I also learned that if I set my mind to it I can be productive because I got a lot of stuff done during this week of waking up early. The first day I just sat on my couch and watched television till I had to leave for school but the next few days I actually worked on school- and personal stuff. This resulted in my evenings being way more chill and I was less stressed during this week.
Waking up at 5:30AM everyday is not made for me, but I will not lay in my bed till 12PM anymore and will get work done in the morning, well during the weekdays, the weekends are still for sleeping in.
So, if you are stressed and need to get work done or want to feel more productive and motivated, I would recommend waking up early for a few days.
