Everybody who is not in denial, can agree that Gen Z is shaping a new world. Generation Z includes people born between 1996 ish and 2012. I might be a little biased being Gen Z myself, so I will tell you what others have said about us.

Activism

Gen Zs are more concerned about human rights than salaries. They support social causes they believe in. From environmental strikes (shout out to Greta Thunberg) to social and racial justice protests, we are everywhere.

Voice

Gen Z isn't afraid to ask the hard questions. Gen Z’s passion makes them prominent and powerful on the world stage. After all, we did leave Trump with thousands of empty seats at Tulsa.

Ruling Social Media… and the economy?

Social media gives Gen Z power to apply pressure like no other generation has done before. Many businesses have awakened to the economic power of Gen Zs and hire marketing firms or even influencers to sell them products, but Gen Zs are very selective on which companies they support and buy from. Child labour? No way.

Unity & Diversity

Gen Z is very united, and they don’t let things threaten this unity. As a result, while older generations seem more easily convinced by the promises of politicians, Gen Zs are harder to win over. Gen Z’s strength also relies on its diversity, inclusivity and equality. We care about each other, we care about our mental health, our happiness and we are connected all over the world.

Purpose

Gen Zs want challenges. They want growth, many Gen Zs don't even want to work for companies where they find neither of these. If they’re challenged, they work long and hard hours, doing so with passion. We believe in a purpose and we want to do something meaningful to change the world.

Boomers are not bad (good for memes), there are still many things to learn from them, and we owe a lot of our digital culture to Millennials (also a bit of our bad reputation) but I certainly hope our generation becomes a true role model for the generations coming.
