Here we have a writer in their natural habitat. Staring at an empty word document, trying desperately to produce words. Writers' block at its finest.

Everyone suffers from writers' block sometimes. Whether you are trying to write a novel of just a school paper. Sometimes you just can’t find the words you need no matter how hard you try.

Need something to unblock? Something to get those creative juices flowing again?

Speaking from personal experiences, a writing prompt might help with this. For those unfamiliar with the concept, a writing prompt is a small piece of text that can help you get some inspiration. This can be anything from a dialogue to a scenario. And for those who think a writing prompt isn’t for them, I have also provided some tips that hopefully will help.

This month’s writing prompt:

“I trusted you!”

“I honestly don’t know what you want me to say. That was your mistake, not mine!”

And there you have it. Out into the world. Feel free to use it however you want. Write a short story, a script, a poem (I would love to see a poem using this!).

If you decide to use it, send it to writing.prompt.hub@gmail.com and it will be featured in the next article.

And if this isn't enough to get your creativity flowing, I will attempt to provide some small tips that might help:

  1. 1. Write anything that comes to you. Don’t think about it. Just write. Everything that pops up. Any idea is a good idea. Editing is always an option later on. Just go on a spree. Don’t take it too seriously.
  2. 2. Try a different format than you usually use. If you normally write horror, try romance. If you normally write poetry, try writing a short story. Try something you’re not used to, to shake things up!
  3. 3. Maybe return to an old draft. Seeing something familiar you’ve worked on, but not been focussing on might be exactly what you need.

These are things that tend to help me when I am struggling, and I hope it’ll help you as well. Now go out and write to your heart’s content. Also, don’t forget to send in your text to feature in the next writing prompt.
