Do you find it boring that the only suggestion people have for a city trip in France is Paris? That's why I headed to Nice, which is located directly on the Mediterranean Sea in the south of France. As you might expect, there are many fun things to do and see in Nice, and I'd like to share some of those highlights with you.
Visit Parque de la Colline du Château
Located on the top of one of the hills surrounding the city centre and coastline. Use one of the walking routes to climb to the top of the hill were you can find a beautiful waterfall and the most gorgeous view of the city. It's a great place to watch the sunset at the end of the day. In the park behind the waterfalls, you'll find another gorgeous view of Port Lympia, Nice's harbor. To go to the top of the hill, you can also use the elevator if walking is not your thing.
Visit one the many museums
In addition to the beautiful architecture and art deco inspired buildings, Nice was also the inspiration for many great painters and writers. I visited Massena museum on Promenade des Anglaise, near Negresco hotel and the beach. This museum is not just stunning from the outside, but it also houses collections of artwork and historical artifacts. When I visited, they were hosting an exhibition for the French painter Jacques Cordier. However, there are many fascinating museums in the area that you may visit. When I return, I particularly want to go to the Matisse Museum, which is dedicated to the French painter Henri Matisse. A lot of his work is available for admiration here.
Take a day trip to Monaco
If you're staying in Nice, you may travel to Monaco for the day by train, which will take you there in approximately 25 minutes. The train ride is not only comfortable, but it is also an adventure in and of itself because it follows a stunning piece of coastline and passes through hills and tunnels. Another great things is that a round-trip ticket costs less than 10 euros. In case you weren't aware, Monaco is a principality ruled by its own monarchy. There is a lot of luxury in Monaco, with expansive harbors packed with million-dollar boats, sports vehicles everywhere, and every luxury brand store you can imagine. Monaco is also well-known for being a Formula 1 street circuit.
Promenade des Anglais
This is the promenade that borders Nice's Mediterranean shoreline. A lovely long pebble beach with azure waters sits parallel to the promenade, where you may have a refreshing dip to cool off. Nearby, there are numerous hotels, dining establishments, and gift shops. On gift cards, magnets, and other souvenirs, you can also find the recognizable blue stools that represent Nice and are located on the promenade . Take a seat and take in the scenery, the atmosphere, and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore.
Of course next to these highlights You can visit a lot of wonderful bars, restaurants, stores, parks, and squares. Not only do I suggest Nice as a destination for a city trip, but I also think it's an experience you are unlikely to forget. So gather your significant other, your friends, or your family and go explore this lovely city to the utmost.
I hope I've influenced you put Nice on your travel bucket list.
