Nowadays, trends come and go. Social media is full of trends that get a lot of hype. One week something is trending and the next week it is gone. Have you ever seen a recipe video trending on social media and wondered, is this actually good? I’ve tried multiple of these trends and I’m here to tell you if they're worth the try.

Feta Pasta

First of all, the famous feta pasta. If you are active on Tik Tok, you definitely have come across this trend. In this video, you see how they make the feta pasta. I saw so many different videos of people making this pasta and I thought I wanted to try it out myself. So, that’s what I did, I cooked the pasta for my family. I followed the instruction the Tik Tok video gave me. It was so easy and satisfying to make. The ingredients you need are tomatoes, pasta, feta, garlic, basil and olive oil. You put all the ingredients except the pasta in an oven dish and put it in the oven. After 30 minutes you get the oven dish out of the oven en mix the pasta together with the other ingredients. I would definitely recommend this recipe. My family and I enjoyed it very much. Now, I’ve made this recipe multiple times. There are different variations of this pasta. You can also put goat cheese and honey in the oven dish, instead of the feta cheese. You could also change it up and put Boursin in the pasta instead of feta. I tried both variants. The goat cheese pasta was also delicious. However, the Boursin pasta was a little bit dry, so I wouldn’t recommend that version.

Smoothie bowl

Another trend you might have come across is the smoothie bowl. A lot of people have this for breakfast. But what is it exactly? Well, a smoothie bowl consists of frozen fruit and muesli. It tastes like ice cream. However, a smoothie bowl is healthier, because you can choose to not add any sugar. In this video, you can see an example of how to make a smoothie bowl. You can choose so many different ingredients to make it. In the picture above, I chose frozen blueberries. I put them in a mixer, added a little bit of milk. Make sure you add a small amount of milk, otherwise the smoothie bowl will be too liquid, instead of the consistency of ice cream. I mixed the ingredients together and sprinkled some muesli on top. Let me tell you, it was delicious. You start your day with a bomb of vitamins. I would definitely recommend you to make your own smoothie bowl. Choose your favorite fruit and try out different combinations.

Oatmeal

The final trend I would like to address is oatmeal. In the past, I would have never thought I would be eating oatmeal in the morning. When I take a look at a bowl of oatmeal, it doesn’t look very tasty. However, people often forget that you can put whatever you like in the oatmeal. This video made me consider eating oatmeal. There are so many different oatmeal varieties, both healthy and less healthy. Personally, I prefer to cut an apple and add cinnamon to the oatmeal. The apple is sweet, so in that way, the oatmeal gets more flavor. Another variant I really like is to mash a banana together with the oatmeal and put it in the microwave. The banana has such a strong flavor, which makes the oatmeal very tasteful. Again, I would definitely recommend oatmeal, there are so many variations so there is a big change you like at least one of the oatmeal recipes.

So, what I can conclude from food trends on social media is that they are trending for a reason. Some food trends maybe seem a little odd, but try it anyway, even if it's just for fun. I was surprised that all the trends I tried were delicious. I will definitely make these food trends way more often.
